My experience is in the area of academic research, teaching, consulting, and development. My research focuses on Electric power industry, Electricity Markets, Scheduling Mechanisms, Agent Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Software Design, Smart grids, ICT Infrastructure, Industrial linkages, Education, and Innovative partnership.
I have developed a strong teaching experience in the area of electrical and computer engineering. During 2001 - 2005, I served as a department head and managing director of the Entrepreneurship Center of Excellence at Yarmouk University. My duties focused on developing graduate programs and strong linkage with industry. During 2006 – 2009 and 2011 – 2013, I served as the dean of the School of Informatics and Computing at German Jordanian University, with emphasis on developing relevance in education and partnership with German Universities and industries. During 2015 - 2017, I served as the dean of graduate studies and scientific research at German Jordanian University, with emphasis on developing graduate programs and strengthening research.
Besides academic managerial skills, I bring a significant industrial experience mainly with the Arab States Research and Education Network since 2011. I have led institutional planning as non-profit organization and supported to boost pan-Arab scientific research and cooperation through the provision of world-class e-Infrastructures and e-services. I have been working with the EU funded AFRICACONNECT and EUMEDCONNECT projects, which focuses on setting up international links to provide research communities with access to highly sophisticated computing facilities and repositories at a wider scale as well as with other EU funded projects, mainly EUMEDGRID, CHAIN/ CHAIN-REDS, and MAGIC with emphasis on interoperable e-Infrastructures at a larger scale.
As a technical advisor and consultant for more than 12 years, I have worked on several technology and education related projects funded by the European Commission, United Nations, and many national and international institutions, including USAID, JICA, World Bank, and Governmental assignments, I have gained significant experience in program and project development processes and implementations in addition to technical domains in Energy, ICT infrastructure, and education. My focus includes developing a sustainable Pan-Arab e-Infrastructure dedicated for research and education and connecting the Arab Universities and research centers.
My intensive technical expertise covers varieties of topics in Energy, Education, Science, e-Infrastructure, ICT, and Institutional development. My personal interest lies in partnerships and innovations in developing ICT applications in energy, institutional services, resource planning, and industry-oriented implementations. I have worked on a number of assignments, which addressed issues of technical consulting, institutional development, software design and architecture in eGovernment applications, information management systems, ICT infrastructure, ICT education reforms, quality of education, and in general university-industry linkages and international cooperation.
I devoted a large portion of my career towards research advancement, developing relevant and quality ICT educational programs, strengthening tri-partite links between university, private sector and government, building international cooperation, and participating in EC funded projects towards a sustainable pan-Arab e-Infrastructure.
